Jamu, coming from the word “Armadillo” in Siona language, is a beautiful and private lodge in the Cuyabeno Reserve where our guests can enjoy a variety of activities. We are located along the Cuyabeno River, 15 minutes down-river from the spectacular Laguna Grande.
Our lodge practices a policy of minimum environmental impact. All of our cabañas are lit naturally with candles to preserve the feeling of being in a remote jungle. Solar panels provide us with electricity and are used to operate our phone. All inorganic material is removed from the reserve regularly and organic material is composted. Additionally, all of the wastewater coming from the lodge is treated using natural enzymes and bacteria. Our belief in true eco-tourism is intended to make your stay as comfortable as possible, while preserving the beauty of the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve for the future.
Accommodation: Jamu Lodge consists of 9 cabañas, built in a traditional, rustic style with thatched-roofs and elevated walkways. Six of our cabañas are divided into two bedrooms each with two beds and its own private bathroom and shower with hot water. One large cabaña hosts 4 rooms up to 5 people per room with space for 20 people in total. In our two-story cabaña you will find our spacious dining area and hammock lounge.
Dining: The heart of our lodge is our dining area. We prepare and serve fresh food in such an isolated location. We provide fresh, local ingredients, such as tasty platanos and yucca, which are the basis for our recipes. Our mix of Ecuadorian and international cuisine will exhilarate your taste buds. Additionally, you can enjoy a cocktail at the bar, or relax with a beer upstairs in our comfortable hammock lounge.
